Classroom Technology Support Group

STAFF DEVELOPMENT CENTRE

STUDENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS (ROSI)

Develops and enhances ROSI, the University's student information system, and facilitates access to student information through an on-line facility and a website for staff and a website for students.

FIS Computing Resources

Windows NT workstations are available for FIS students at four locations in the Bissell Building. All workstations at FIS are connected to each other and to the Internet via Ethernet cabling. FIS users must login to the Netware server using a name and password given to them when they join the faculty in order to use the workstations and take advantage of FIS computing resources.

KNOWLEDGE MEDIA DESIGN INSTITUTE (KMDI)

KMDI, an institute in the School of Graduate Studies, carries out collaborative cross-disciplinary research in knowledge media design. We design, development and evaluate media that support and enhance the ability of individuals and groups to think, learn, communicate, and create knowledge. Research in knowledge media design will shape the products, processes and practices of the 21st century.

The Library provides a computer training lab for law students and a number of networked computers with Internet access that are available to all users of the Library. Students at UTS have access to a modern computer lab, comprised of mostly PCs. A Silicon Graphics machine is available for Research and Development work. At UTS, the key emphasis is on integration of technology in meaningful ways into the curriculum with a strong focus on information and technological literacy.

Teaching and Learning Services (TLS)

TLS supports excellence and innovation in teaching and learning at U of T at Scarborough by bringing together writing instructors, librarians and new media technology specialists. They work with faculty to develop course materials and to integrate new media technology into the classroom. In addition, the Centre for Instructional Technology Development of TLS assists faculty to electronically publish scholarly material and works on projects with non-profit organizations around the globe.

TRINITY COLLEGE

The Trinity Computer Labs provide Trinity students with several workstations for web access, email, word-processing, laser printing (b/w and colour), and accessing the University of Toronto network, including the U of T catalogue. The Trinity College Residence Network (Resnet) connects all Trinity residence rooms to the University of Toronto network via dedicated ethernet.

UNIVERSITY COLLEGE

The Victoria University Library, including both the E.J. Pratt and Emmanuel College Libraries offer students workstations with catalogue, web and e-mail access, as well as network access to several unique CD-ROM indexes and research tools. Laptop computers with both Word and WordPerfect are available for use within both libraries. Users can print essays and other documents on the public laser printers.
